what the belly wants

chocolate treats

This is my version of these chocolate treats my grandmother used to make!
Every year, around Christmas, and for my father's birthday, she made a whole bunch of them!
They disappeared at light speed, and we would find colored paper everywhere..
Since she passed away, I decided to keep up the tradition, and so I now make them every year, adding of course, some colour!

Raffaello

raffaello
Many many years ago, while I was sitting on a bench with my best friend, a stranger approached us, and offered us some little white treats.. He said he worked in this pastry shop that had just opened, and that was his way of promoting it.. Naturally one of the first advices every parent that respects himself gives to his children, in never take candy from strangers..after joking on this, we accepted these little snowflake-like sweets..
I loved them.. I always had this memory in my mind, but I never remembered their name..
Until last year! Raffaello..it just hit me! And this is how I searched and found the recipe, and started making them.. well, I only made them twice.. Mine weren't that good as I remembered.. but they were ok!
And i took this photo with this box, were my mother used to keep some milk candy when I was little..
